Waterski Recaps from Chico, Paradise Found and Imperial
Wednesday, April 30, 2008 Chico: April 19-20Despite the never-ending drive and the lack of team members able to make the “What Happens in Chico, Stays in Chico” tournament, seven Tritons pulled together and placed 6th. Men finished an overall 5th, with freshman Jake Mosby landing his first three jumps ever, with the best being 41 feet. Sophomore Hannah Brock and freshman Kelsie Brooks managed, by themselves, a 6th place tie with Nevada, Reno. Paradise Found: April 12-13 Just north of the Grapevine, waterskiing Tritons camped out at Ironwood in Bakersfield and placed overall 6th in the joint Cal Poly/UCSB-hosted tournament. The Men’s Team stole 5th, with the women taking overall 6th. Junior Annalee Asbury landed her furthest jump at 41 feet. Imperial: April 26-27 With a quick hour and a half drive east on the 8, the Tritons were charged and ready to dominate the last tournament of the spring season hosted by San Diego State at Imperial Lakes. UCSD placed 3rd overall, with men placing 3rd, and women tying for 2nd. On her last collegiate tournament ever, senior Ashleigh Grant broke Mindy Bendheim’s trick record with a 1270 trick run.
