The UCSD Table Tennis competed in their first regionals tournament of the year on Sunday, October 25th. Competing in a tournament with a record number of participating schools, the UCSD team fought hard to place in third place out of eight teams. Led by Senior John Springer, the varsity team of Jessica Yick, Tianyi Cui and Andy Naing were victorious over UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton, Santa Monica College and CalTech. Although the UCSD team is the defending champions of last year, the USC and UCLA teams finished first and second respectfully.

Although it was a disappointing tournament for the UCSD team there were some bright spots. Andy Naing pulled off an excellent upset over UCLA player Wendy Eav and Jessica Yick, the youngest on the UCSD varsity team proved that there is a lot of potential for improvement at the next regionals
