Womens Soccer Plays SDSU and USD
Sunday, October 18, 2009 The women’s soccer team played SDSU on October 17th at their stadium and definitely felt the heat. Saturday was extremely hot and unfortunately it got to us. We ended up losing 4-0 and we didn’t play well at all. Chelsea Hasenauer and Jenni Lundergan did a great job controlling the midfield but their offensive attack was too strong. Jessica Garcia had a few attempts on goal but their keeper did a great job and kept the score 4-0. Off the bench, Marcella Scholl, Bethany Chan, Robin Chung, and Gabriela Capisani gave a lot of depth to the team and made huge contributions when they got into the game. Hopefully next time we’ll be able to stay focused and control the game. On Sunday the 18th, the team played a big rivalry game against USD. USD is in our league and we wanted to come out strong against them. Everyone played amazing the first 15 minutes but a miscommunication error led to a USD goal. Chelsea Hasenauer and Jenni Lundergan again kept the midfield strong and the energy positive and before the half ended Jenni had an amazing goal with her left foot that tied us 1-1. Elisa Sahagun, Tori Bell and Stacey Tanaka did a great job defensively and saved numerous attacks form USD offense. However USD managed to get another goal in. Luckily for us, Chelsea Hasenauer headed the ball into the goal before the second half was over and we finished the game 2-2. Sarah Mizuki and Jessica Garcia were great up top and we had the most opportunities to score this game then any before. We get more and more comfortable each time we play. Back to News & Results
