Message from the Captains
June 11, 2008 *** PROSPECTIVE GIRLS, HERE'S THE INFO ***We generally hold tryouts the 1st week of school over 3-4 days depending on the number of girls. Since students will be moved in on campus and most likely off campus as well by Zero Week, TRYOUTS WILL BE HELD THEN. Dates and times will be available at a later date. The new captains that have taken over are Tori Bell and Jenni Lundergan. They will be 4th years starting Fall 2009. We do not have a coach, and haven't for about 6 years. So the girls will act as the player/captain/coach/managers. This past year we carried 18 girls with tons of commitment. We practice 3 days a week and attendance is a huge deal! We had 5 seniors graduated, so I Tori and Jenni are looking to fill at least that. The returners are not guaranteed a spot back on the A team, and we also have a B team. During the Fall we attend many tournaments. We try to be as active as possible. For Winter, our schedule takes a break, not as many games. But we do get the team involved in Intramural's on campus with weekly games. (I would advise you to get involved with as many as possible starting in the fall, they are a lot of fun and a great way to meet people. Especially dodgeball!) As for Spring we have a few tournaments like UCLA, our own and sometimes LMU. The season only lasts about 4-5 weeks depending upon who we can schedule games with. As for fees and what not throughout the year, it changes due to things that we need as a team every year. For the newcomers, it is generally more expensive because you are paying for uniforms, bags, sweatshirts, etc, that returners may already have. This past year, fees for the rookies were around $430. This may sound like a lot, but this covers the whole year full of tournament fees, hotels, food, gas for driving, new equipment, and anything else we need. We are looking to do some fund-raising this time around to lower the costs. So I hope that gives you a feel of the team. We are here for any more questions you have. Please keep in touch. *** RETURNING GIRLS *** There are no guarantees that returning players will make the team. All returning players who hope to remain with the team must come to all tryouts and participate in all exercises. *** TRYOUT INFORMATION *** Sept 23, 24, 25 at RIMAC Field from 6-8pm - Please arrive early enough to have time get registered (20 min) - Please have proper attire for tryouts (cleats, shin guards, socks, soccer ball) - Please wear white shirts so organizing is easier.
Women's Soccer Beats UCI
Sunday, November 15, 2009 In an uplifting victory, the Tritons sent the anteaters back home with an L added to their record. Within the first few minutes, control of the game was clearly held by the women tritons and maintained throughout the game. Half way through the first half, Amy Triano finished a cross to put UCSD up 1. Again, just before the first half ended, a corner cross from Jenni Lundergan finished by Chelsea Haubasser off a beautiful header. With the 2 goals on offense and defense holding strong led by Tori Bell at sweeper and Ali Hitch at stopper, the tritons finish the last game before regionals in a definite victory.
