Snowski Still Competing in Mid-April
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 The slopestlye competition was held on Saturday accompanied by some gorgeous sunshine. Out of 8 girl skiers who competed, 4 of them were from UCSD. Hiromi Namikawa filled the 4th place spot while Jen Trezzo, Masha Raykhman, and Brooke Matthias rounded out the top eight coming in 6th, 7th, and 8th. For the guys, Chris Trezzo came in 9th while Patrick Hines and Patrick Hess came in 13th and 14th respectively.For the snowboarders, there were only 6 girls to show up and UCSD’s Samantha Lee came in 5th place. The largest turnout was the guy snowboarders with 24 athletes in attendance, and with them came some fierce competition. David Ortiz-Suslow came in 14th, Jeff Compton came in 20th, Gil Hong came in 21st, and Ryan Engle came in 24th. Sunday was the boarder and skiercross competition. It felt even hotter on Sunday and a lot of the athletes were skiing in their t-shirts. Hiromi Namikawa came in 3rd and Jen Trezzo came in 7th for the female skiers.
