Sailing Closes Out the Year in San Fransisco
Friday, April 10, 2009 The UCSD Sailing team began the spring quarter with a trip up to San Francisco for the St. Francis Intersectional hosted by St. Francis Yacht Club. This regatta attracts teams from around the country and the UCSD team faced some stiff competition. Out of a fleet of 32 boats the UCSD team came in 22nd overall. “A” division was sailed by freshman skipper David Blackett and freshman crew Jenny Lyons. “B” was sailed by skipper Andy Dippel and crew Kat Schultz. Dippel and Schultz decided to switch things up by sailing “B” division and it seemed to pay off as they scored 15th out of 32. The St. Francis regatta was the last regatta that the co-ed team will sail this year and the beautiful weekend in San Francisco was a great way to end the season. This will most likely be skipper David Blackett’s last collegiate sailing regatta as he is planning on leaving UCSD. David, you will be missed.More Headlines: Mar 10 - Sailing Team Competes at Stanford Mar 3 - Sailing Team Competes in South 5 Designate Feb 20 - Sailing Team Looks to Improve in Santa Barbara There are no more headlines. ![]() |
