Roller Hockey Competes in San Jose Tournament
Sunday, October 18, 2009 UCSD Roller Hockey had a tough weekend at the opening tournament in San Jose. The A team went 0-3-1 on the weekend while the B team went 2-2. The A team lost 3 games 2 of which were 1 goal games (10-9 and 5-4) and the B team lost a close one 3-2. Despite some heartbreaking loses, both teams got a lot out of the tournament and will continue to improve considering the two teams had only played together for a little over a week. Both teams have a lot of potential and by the end of the year, they should both be competing for the regional championship. Some stand out players from the opening tournament for UCSD, Troy Miller and Kenny McCubbins were two of the most productive Div 2 players in the tournament with Miller getting 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points and McCubbins scoring 10 goals and 3 assists for 13 points. On the B team Veteran defenseman Sean Wisotzkey led the B team with 8 goals and 3 assists while the two freshman Ethan Yu and Nick Lau contributed 8 points apiece (4-4 for 8 and 6-2 for 8 respectively). All in all it was a good learning experience and the two teams will be better because of it. Back to News & Results
