September 24, 2008 Dance Team Auditions!!!When: 10/4/08 from 3pm to 8pm Where: Rimac Activity Room 1 We generally look for dancers who are technically trained in Jazz, but also can demonstrate other dance styles as well like Hip-Hop and Contemporary. We love to see great dancers that have personality and poise when dancing at the same time! At the try-out session you will be learning a series of short technique combinations and then will be judged based upon dance skills and stage presence. Triton Dance Team Places 4th at NDA Collegiate Championships
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 On April 10 and 11, 2008, the UCSD Dance Team traveled to Daytona Beach, Florida for the National Dance Alliance Collegiate Championships, the biggest and most competitive dance competition in the world. The Tritons participated in the Division II category with 23 teams competing. During the preliminary round, the UCSD team of 13 girls performed just as powerful as their 2nd place routine from last year, ranking them 3rd with a score of 8.870. The team moved on to the final round the next morning. The Tritons performed exceptionally well in the final run despite the extreme heat conditions causing the floor to not be at its best, and were assured that all their hard work as a group paid off. When the awards were presented, UCSD placed 4th. After being interviewed at the competition, the captains Charlene Russell and Neva Gebelein shared with the reporter how fulfilling it feels to have been so successful without the help of a coach or choreographer. The team took care of all the arrangements on their own to make sure they would be able to attend Nationals this year including fundraising, costumes, choreographing and countless practice hours.More Headlines: Feb 19 - Triton Dance Team 4th in Nation There are no more headlines.  |
